“Photography strives to find perfect imperfections in the world and uses them to tell a story of that moment”

As a mostly self-taught photographer, the above sums up well how I think and see places and things as I wander around casually with my camera. Granted sometimes there is a lot of planning behind things to get the right light, but a lot of the photos I like most, are very much a spur of the moment captures.

Currently living in central Finland, most of my inspiration comes from the lakes and forest around me. Nothing gives more of a sense of being out of the loop and just enjoying the nature around you that stepping out and walking 500 meters and not seeing anything but trees can do. Additionally, the animals help in adding a little bit of extra to even the most wide landscapes, or the greyest darkest days.

I have always been a very outdoor loving nature person. As a little kid I would spend hours and days wandering around riversides and forest near my home, and dig up all the possible weird crawly critters I could find. So I still am very much a bug lover when it comes to doing more macro photography. I would watch all the nature documentaries I could find and read a lot of books about animals and marvel them and the places they lived in. And I still do.

To date most of my photography is spurred on by wanting to show what I see to others, and to make people realize how much they are missing when they don’t stop and look around.
